8月31日 Strictly Come Dancing star Camilla Dallerup: interviewIn an interview with the Metro newspaper Strictly Come Dancing professional dancer Camilla Dallerup says a few things ahead of her appearance in the Eurovision Dance Contest. My favourite bits are: "I have all my stage clothes made for me in Surrey. I have some built-in pants, so I’m never in an embarrassing situation when I’m doing lifts." "I don’t do competitions any more. I’ve just had my first acting role, which was in Basil Brush." Will we see Camilla and her built-in pants in Strictly Come Dancing 2007 series five? Who knows. I can't be certain I'll have the willpower to tune into the Eurovision Dance Contest this Saturday night. I mean, does anyone really care? 8月30日 John Barnes, Letitia Dean but no Gazza on Strictly 2007?There's no end to 'news' about the contestants who are supposedly on or not on series five of Strictly Come Dancing.
Rumour?
Fact?
Dunno.
But the speculation is kind of exciting, isn't it?
It feels like there have been more rumours for series five of Strictly Come Dancing than for all the others put together. 8月27日 Searching for Strictly Come DancingOne of the handy features of Windows Live Spaces is the statistics section where you (if you're the owner of the blog) can see referring addresses. It's here that you can see which phrases people are keying into search engines and ending up on your Space.
This gives you a fascinating insight into the exact Strictly things people are thinking about right now - and series five is still quite a few weeks away.
So here are some recent phrases put into search engines that have brought people to this blog. Make of it what you will...
More Strictly rumoursNewspaper reports suggest Penny Lancaster, Neil Warnock, Debra Stevenson and Andrew Castle have signed up for series five of Strictly Come Dancing.
Given Warnock's frequent run-ins with referees during his time as Sheffield United manager one can only wonder how he's going to cope with the Strictly judges' views. Bruno's team wins DanceXBut nobody cares. 8月24日 All the regulars return to StrictlyI somehow missed the actual BBC announcement back in July about series five of Strictly Come Dancing.
Shame on me.
Anyway, as usual the show will be presented by Bruce Forsyth and everyone's favourite newspaper The Tess Daly.
Judges Len Goodman, Arlene Phillips, Craig Revel Horwood and Bruno Tonioli all return too. Fourteen celebs. Is that too many for Strictly Come Dancing series 5?Twelve weeks, 14 celebs paired with 14 professionals.
Too many?
Possibly.
Too few?
Definitely not.
Just right?
Well I think I'd prefer 12 but the fact is that the duffers are rooted out quickly and it gives more time for the committed celebs who have some talent to really hone their skills, making for a higher quality show later on. Kelly Brook to appear on Strictly Come Dancing?Another rumour I came across recently is that Kelly Brook has signed up for series five of Strictly Come Dancing.
There's a bit more about it on the Glamour magazine website. Paul Gascoigne (aka Gazza) to appear on Strictly Come Dancing? Here's a rumour: former England footballer Paul Gascoigne might appear on series five of Strictly Come Dancing.
Why don't they invite his mate Jimmy 'Five Bellies' too? 8月23日 Logan's runWill Gabby Logan make it onto Strictly this series now that she is working for the BBC? It was rumoured that she was not allowed to take part in the previous show by her bosses when she was working for ITV. Now, I’ll get this out early. I’m not Gabby’s biggest fan. It’s hard to explain why. I’m all for people who are not former players taking key roles in sports presenting, punditry and commentary. So that on level I’ve been pleased by Logan’s run of late. I think the problem is that I find her questioning technique all a bit lightweight and superficial. That’s it, really. But if she’s in Strictly I shall keep an open mind. But if she isn’t I think I’ll live.
Sorry, Gabby. 8月22日 DanceXDanceX is on at the moment. Well, it is according to the blatant plug for it on this morning's BBC Breakfast News (hosted by my mate Bill Turnbull).
From what I can tell Bruno and Arlene each train a team of people to do something - dance, it looks like. Then they rate, or rather slate, the other team's performance.
Compelling viewing?
I think not.
Roll on series five of Strictly. 8月17日 Strictly Big BrotherRumours earlier this month were that Big Brother contestants Charley and Chanelle may be signed up to do Strictly Come Dancing.
Is this a good idea? Brendan Cole says somethingThe Times newspaper's Body & Soul section last weekend had an interview with Brendan Cole.
The New Zealand-born Cole and Dane Camilla Dallerup are representing the UK in the first Eurovision Dance Contest, to be shown on BBC One next month.
"Hold on," you're thinking. "How come they're dancing togther?"
The article doesn't quite give enough of an answer.
You can read a version of it on the Times Online site. Baby ballroomSo ITV had this series called Baby ballroom - a dancing competition for the under 12s or something.
Fortunately I saw very little of it.
Sure, those youngsters were dedicated and skilled and I've got nothing against that and indeed I'm all for it but let's face it this was not a great show.
The judges were nowhere near as good as the Strictly ones, Kate Thornton's presentation skills do nothing for me and in the end did you really care who won?
No, of course you didn't because you hadn't felt like you had been on a journey with the contestants.
That's the essence of Strictly.
A young man's thoughts turn to...Did you enjoy summer?
It was on a Tuesday this year, wasn't it?
To me at least it suddenly seems to be getting darker earlier in the evening now and my thoughts are turning to the next series of Strictly.
It's a couple of months away but we've already been planning our coverage - it's going to be bigger and brighter than ever.
Can't wait. |
